Young Physician Leadership Program
The Connecticut State Medical Society’s Young Physician Leadership Program (YPLP) will define leadership, explain the basic skills and characteristics of effective leaders, and introduce tools to improve leadership skills and style. The participants will learn how to influence discussions and recognize their own roles as a leader, develop their own leadership style, understand how to improve performance, and become motivated to take on new leadership challenges. This program will use the AMA definition of young physicians to include residents and fellows, and those in practice up to eight years or up to 40 years of age.The structure of the program is six four-hour sessions. Four sessions will focus on subject matter content; one session will focus on mentoring and coaching in regards to the skill-based project assignment, with the final session consisting of project presentations and an overall structured program reflection.
