Future Alaska Medical Leaders Inc. (FAMLI)

The Alaska State Medical Association (ASMA) will build leadership in the ranks of Alaska physicians through development of the Future Alaska Medical Leaders Inc (FAMLI) physician leadership program. There will be 6 in-person meetings spread out over a six month period. These meetings will address the following Core Learning Modules:

• Emotional Intelligence & Leading with Resilience: “Code Switching Self & Managing Burn-Out”
• Relationship Management
• Relationship Management
• The Influence of Outcomes
• Team Engagement Strategies/ Team Intelligence: “The Five Behaviors of a Cohesive Team®”
• Advanced Critical Thinking Skills – The Leadership Perspective
• Strategic Thinking
• Effective Transition and Change Management

Modules will develop leadership competencies through content that teaches participants to:

1. Combining the latest research in neurology with practical tools physicians will maximize their well-being to mitigate known burnout factors.
2. Foster productive interactions that allow desired outcomes
3. Harness the center of emotional fortitude that generates and sustains real partnerships
4. Strengthen results-orientation through critical thinking skills
5. Influence and guide with intense clarity
6. Learn solid mental management disciplines for maneuvering through tensions, annoyances and upsets
7. Resolve issues and restore relationships – use a non-judgmental language for identifying and dealing with relationship issues
8. Learn how to have robust conversations that move self and others through workplace dilemmas
9. Maintain a strong leadership demeanor in order to ignite accountability and engagement with others
10. Utilize effective negotiation skills
