What We Fund

Our grants support nonprofits, universities, hospital systems and medical society foundations to strengthen the physician-patient relationship, support medical practices’ sustainability and help physicians be leaders in our ever-changing health care system. Since 2005, we have awarded nearly $49 million grants to leading health care organizations.

Travis County Medical Society Foundation

Grant Size $50,000

In 1972, the Travis County Medical Society created the Central Texas Medical Foundation to develop and operate community based graduate medical education programs. After 26 years of operations, the residency programs were sold in 1998 and the proceeds became the corpus of the Travis County Medical Society Foundation (TCMSF), a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit of which the Travis County Medical Society is the sole member.he TCMSF sponsors physician-led programs, such as: Project Access, which provides coordinated health care for low-income, uninsured citizens of Travis County; free athletic physicals for students in the Austin Independent School District; the Physician Wellness Program; and scholarships for medical students. The TCMSF Lecture Series is an educational program that brings in well-known speakers on relevant topics of interest to TCMS members.

Medical Society of Virginia Foundation

Grant Size $50,000

The Medical Society of Virginia (MSV), founded in 1820, represents over 10,000 Virginia physicians, residents, medical students, and PAs and strives to advance high-quality care and make Virginia the best place to practice medicine. The MSV Foundation (MSVF) serves as the 501(c)(3) arm for the MSV. Its purpose is to support Virginia physicians in the practice of medicine, regardless of specialty, level of experience, geography, or practice setting. MSVF equips physicians with the tools and resources they need to best serve themselves, their patients, and the community at large – through physician leadership development programs, health care workforce and wellness initiatives, and health care quality improvement efforts.

Minnesota Medical Association

Grant Size $117,175

The Minnesota Medical Association (MMA) Foundation is a 501(c)(3) and a Type I, 509(a)(3) supporting organization that was organized exclusively for the benefit of, to  perform the functions of, and to carry out the purposes of the MMA. On a day-to-day basis, the MMA and its foundation work in close partnership on their shared mission to make Minnesota the healthiest state and best place to practice. The peer coaching project will expand upon and complement existing MMA initiatives to improve physician wellness and reduce burnout. It also advances the MMA Board of Trustee’s strategic priority to develop professional growth, satisfaction, and well-being resources.

Duval County Medical Society

Grant Size $150,000

The Duval County Medical Society (DCMS) Foundation is a 501(c)(3) created in 1959. The mission is to support charitable, scientific, and educational activities, in partnership with physicians, that benefit the community’s health. Practicing medicine can be highly stressful and doctors face day-to-day challenges with emotional stress and burnout. This can impact one’s personal, practice or family life. The LifeBridge: Physician Wellness Program is designed to address the seriousness of physician burnout in the field and reduce the impact of physician related stressors.

Indiana Medical Foundation

Grant Size $75,000

The Indiana Medical Foundation (IMF) operates under the control of the Indiana State Medical Association (ISMA). For more than 165 years the ISMA has been helping physicians become leaders in settings such as hospitals, health systems, at the Indiana Statehouse and in regulatory agencies. The mission of the IMF is to provide professional, practical, continuing, or other educational and leadership programs for Indiana physicians to support ISMA’s mission of helping those physicians provide the best possible health care for their patients.

Foundation of the Pennsylvania Medical Society

Grant Size $74,985

The Foundation of the Pennsylvania Medical Society (FPAMED) is a non-profit 501(c)(3) affiliate of the Pennsylvania Medical Society (PAMED). The Foundation serves as the philanthropic partner for PAMED and advances the collective goals to sustain the future of medicine in Pennsylvania by providing programs that support medical education, physician health, and excellence in practice. The foundation will serve as the 501-c-3 conduit for PAMED to serve as the primary organization to plan, implement and evaluate the Chronic Care Management – Incorporating Social Drivers of Health Project.

Center for a Healthy Maryland

The Center for a Healthy Maryland, The Maryland State Medical Society Foundation, (The Center) was established in 1976 as a 501(c)(3) corporation to support the charitable, educational, and scientific purposes and functions of MedChi. These include education, quality improvement, health promotion, community outreach, preservation of MedChi history and public health. The Center’s mission is to enhance the quality of medical care and improve the health of the citizens of the State of Maryland. MedChi, The Maryland State Medical Society is a voluntary membership association of Maryland physicians. Its mission is to serve as Maryland’s foremost advocate and resource for physicians, their patients and the public’s health. Established in 1799 and representing over 8,000 physicians in all specialties, MedChi is Maryland’s oldest and largest physician organization.

Arizona Medical Association Foundation

Grant Size $75,000

The Arizona Medical Association (ArMA) is the largest voice for physicians and organized medicine in Arizona. Its’ mission is to promote and provide leadership in the art and science of medicine; to preserve and improve the health of all Arizonans; to represent the physician community and the profession in the public forum; and to defend the freedom and ability of physicians to practice medicine in the best interests of patients. ArMA has a 501 c(3) Foundation within its structure that aims to promote and support the medical society’s charitable, public health, and educational activities. ArMA’s “Foundation for a Healthy Arizona” champions physicians, their patients, and the health of all Arizonans.

Montana Medical Association Foundation

Grant Size $150,000

The Montana Medical Association Foundation (MMAF) is a 501(c) (3) non-profit corporation whose purposes are to sustain the future of medicine in Montana by promoting and supporting programs that encourage medical education, physical health, and excellence in practice. The foundation hosts the annual leadership program, now in its ninth year, and other medical education programs. Other programs supported through grants have included the Montana HOSA (Health Occupations Students of America) State Leadership Conference, a Leadership Retreat for WWAMI (Washington, Wyoming, Alaska, Montana and Idaho) medical students, and an educational retreat for WWAMI faculty. Recent initiatives undertaken have included support of a program to support physician practices in their use telemedicine, and the establishment of a statewide electronic exchange of health information; both of which supports the Foundation’s vision of healthier communities.
