Development and delivery of a medical staff leadership training program
This initiative was a pilot project that provided two-and-a-half days of training for chiefs of staff, committee members, department chairs and other physicians to increase their leadership knowledge and skills. Program content was focused on effective communication, running a medical staff meeting, legal issues, fulfilling the role of a leader, promoting a culture of safety and handling the disruptive professional, among other topics. The IMQ designed the program as an alternative to physician leadership programs that are closely aligned with the needs of hospital administrators rather than the needs of medical staff members.
