Program to develop and dissemination a toolkit for HIT adoption

This project will develop tools and resources to aid in the adoption and implementation of health information technology (HIT), specifically for specialty practices. MMAF reports that while there are numerous tools and resources already in existence, there are few that “focus on the specific needs of the specialty practice, such as limited resources (staffing, time, financial), hardware and software needs, differences in work flow and greater clinical exam and documentation need.” The proposed Specialty Care HIT Supplemental Toolkit will be a comprehensive, web-based HIT toolkit for specialty care practices, designed for three to four types of specialty providers. The toolkit will have four modules: 1) Basic Information on HIT; 2) Assess, Plan and Select; 3) Implement and Effective Use; and 4) Health Information Exchange.
