Physicians are experiencing new and mounting challenges in a rapidly evolving health care landscape.
Why? Because COVID-19 has catapulted many physicians onto the frontlines of care—treating an unpredictable and deadly virus. And, other physicians are navigating the multi-faceted stress of keeping their practices afloat and preventing personal health risks while caring for others.
Even before the pandemic, physicians have been experiencing widespread burnout and professional dissatisfaction due to a loss of clinical autonomy, regulatory burdens and barriers to addressing patients’ health-related social needs.
Now more than ever, physicians’ voices must be heard by those who directly impact how we deliver care. As physician leaders, we must come together to learn from one another’s experiences. Only then can we improve America’s health.
