Program to provide resources and tools on adoption and meaningful use of EHRs by physicians and indigent care sites not eligible for Regional Extension Center services
HealthLINC, Inc. carried out a project to provide resources and tools to physicians and practices that do not qualify for services through the Tri-State Regional Extension Center (REC). The three core objectives include: 1) to provide 15 surgeons and two physician-assisted indigent care clinics with REC-similar tools, resources and services to adopt EHRs, participate in the Health Information Exchange (HIE) and achieve meaningful use by 2012; 2) to leverage the connected technology to increase outpatient surgeons’ and indigent care clinics’ preparation to participate in quality improvement reporting initiatives; and 3) to enable 95 percent of participating physicians (using an EHR) to receive data from external sources such as labs, radiology, etc., and to report consistently on measures for meaningful use.
