Leadership Development as a Unique Tool to Fight Burnout in Women Physicians
The Women in Leadership (WIL) development program will be a tool to fight burnout in women physicians in Baylor Scott & White Health’s large multi-specialty group practice. A pilot of the WIL program was executed in 2017, and since inception, has been physician led and data driven. The program includes a Three-Pronged approach of:
1) Encouraging local networking and support
2) Building leadership skills which are often assumed
3) Allowing mentorship and advocacy relationship with practice leaders
Each session will be customized based on feedback from the prior program participants and execute the program across the entire BSWH system in the state of Texas. This program will train 25% of the female physicians at BSWH over the next 2 years. This proposal is innovative, in it allows connections to the actual leaders of this large organization, while respecting and exploring benefits and disadvantages of different specialties, employment models and practice sizes within the organization. Outcomes will be applicable to practice settings across the United States.
