Program to develop career support for women in cardiology
The Women’s Career and Leadership Development Conference was held in 2011 with 70 participants. The one-and-a-half day program included sessions on conflict management, negotiation, career navigation and goal setting. The program utilized different formats of learning, including didactic lectures, panel discussions, small group discussions and case presentations.
The learning objectives for the program were:
- Develop a personal career plan
- Define key career and leadership development skills
- Discuss barriers and explore resources available
- Apply effective communication, negotiation and conflict management skills
- Prioritize strategies for balancing work and personal challenges
- Define the value of professional associations
- Apply strategic decision-making skills, leadership competencies and personal effectiveness in the management of teams
