Initiative to provide physicians with resources to capture, record and use data for quality improvement purposes
The American Medical Association Foundation developed a physician-led collaborative model for assisting physicians in the management of clinical data. The AMA Foundation worked with six physician practices already using EHRs and integrated performance measures on select chronic diseases. The long-term goal of the project was to provide generalizable resources for physicians using any type of electronic health record to assist them in capturing, reporting and utilizing data for clinical performance measures in patient care and practice improvement. Funding from The Physicians Foundation supported physicians in overseeing and improving their patients’ cardiovascular care using evidence-based, nationally-recognized physician clinical performance measures integrated into electronic health record systems.
