The Patient and the Practitioner in the Age of Technology: Promoting Healing Relationships
Brown University’s Alpert Medical School has a three-pronged plan for promoting healing relationships:
1) Conduct a series of 4 virtual educational events during 2020-2021, and
2) Plan a live conference for Fall 2021
3) Hold this conference in Providence, RI in Fall 2021.
A 3-hour virtual conference was held in October and will be followed by four 90-minute on-line follow-up sessions to be held in November 2020, and January, March, and May 2021. During these, they shall explore the crucial themes more deeply, with TED-style talks, panel discussions, presentation of the additional abstracts they received, and audience question and answer sessions. They hope these five events will connect attendees and presenters with the conference themes and with one another and will serve to generate interest and energy toward holding a live conference at Brown University in the fall of 2021.
As with the first conference, their conference presenters and attendees for conference 2 and 3 in will include a diverse group of patients, practitioners, educators, technology designers, government officials, institutional leaders, stakeholders, and researchers from the United States and around the world. They will share their perspectives, ideas, and research about how to nurture and promote healing relationships and keep them at the center of care as health information technology advances.
