Empowering Physicians to Address Patients’ Resource Needs

Health Leads envisions a healthcare system that addresses all patients’ basic resource needs as a standard part of patient care. Health Leads will launch its next phase of organizational impact through pursuing an ambitious two-pronged strategy of (1) rapidly growing Health Leads’ operational footprint to provide thousands of physicians with the tools and infrastructure to address their patients’ basic resource needs and (2) positioning Health Leads to lead the sector in realizing a healthcare system that addresses all patients’ basic resource needs as a standard part of quality care, through convening and engaging physician-leaders alongside a set of diverse healthcare stakeholders.

Over the course of the project, Health Leads will pursue four key activities that will further both Health Leads’ own vision as well as that of the Foundation: (1) empowering physicians to effectively address their patients’ resource needs, (2) establishing the economic value to the healthcare system of addressing those resource needs, in light of the impact of poverty on healthcare costs, (3) elevating the physician voice to influence national healthcare conversations, and (4) developing a next generation of physician-leaders to advocate for a healthcare system that addresses all patients’ basic resource needs as a standard part of quality care.
