Georgia Physicians Leadership Academy

The Georgia Physicians Leadership Academy (GPLA) was established in 2007, by the MAG Foundation to develop physician leaders who will enhance the medical profession and the health care system and the quality of life in the state. The GLPA provides up to 15 physicians a 6-session, year-long in-person course, primarily on weekends with the exception of the advocacy session, spent at the State Capitol, meeting with legislators. Other topics covered include relationship building, conflict resolution, and media relations. Participants complete a leadership inventory and complete a final project on a topic of their choosing that benefits their patients, communities, specialty, and/or state society. Topics cover a variety of categories including public health, physician leadership, and advocacy.
