MESF/MSSNY Women’s Physician Leadership Academy

“MESF/MSSNY created a virtual Women Physicians Leadership Academy, under the direction of a physicians planning committee. This academy held virtual leadership programs in fall 2023 and spring 2024. The curriculum emphasized issues facing women physicians, residents and medical students, all of whom were eligible to participate in these programs. Each session was held for three consecutive weekends. Curriculum was focused on: (1) physician wellness; (2) advocacy for physicians, including legislative advocacy; (3) emotional intelligence and identifying and overcoming personal barriers; (4) communication skills; (5) executive leadership and the C-Suite; (6) the importance of positivity and networking; (7) overcoming microaggressions; (8) other course work the Planning Committee deemed relevant. Throughout these sessions, there was a facilitator named to guide participants through the virtual format and to connect each session to the others.”
