Montana Medical Foundation Healthcare Excellence in Leadership Program
The Montana Medical Association Foundation (MMAF) is a 501(c) (3) non-profit corporation whose purposes are to sustain the future of medicine in Montana by promoting and supporting programs that encourage medical education, physical health, and excellence in practice. The foundation hosts the annual leadership program, now in its ninth year, and other medical education programs. Other programs supported through grants have included the Montana HOSA (Health Occupations Students of America) State Leadership Conference, a Leadership Retreat for WWAMI (Washington, Wyoming, Alaska, Montana and Idaho) medical students, and an educational retreat for WWAMI faculty. Recent initiatives undertaken have included support of a program to support physician practices in their use telemedicine, and the establishment of a statewide electronic exchange of health information; both of which supports the Foundation’s vision of healthier communities.
The MMA, in close partnership with one of Montana’s top leadership firms, Future-Sync International, Inc., (FSI), has brought together the best approaches in establishing this “Future Focused”™ physician development process that includes a series of high impact incremental core learning modules to provide physicians with the tools, skills, and learning opportunities to engage effectively in leading and influencing the future direction of health care. Additionally, physicians are introduced to the topic of resiliency and Montana specific healthcare policy issues that are financially and politically driven and prepares them to be engaged in the C-suite decision making and policy setting arenas. This program includes community learning conversations to broaden participant awareness of healthcare issues, such as financing within hospitals, health equity, and healthcare delivery system challenges and innovations.
