Kanof Institute for Physician Leadership
The NCMS Foundation’s Kanof Institute for Physician Leadership operates four leadership development courses that prepare NC physicians to lead others to transform the health care system. KIPL’s courses provide physicians the tools & skills necessary to move from traditional fee-for-service payment and care delivery to alternative payment & care delivery models optimize the health system performance. This project will allow NCMS Foundation to continue to refine its existing educational offerings and offer competitive tuition costs.
The project will include two cohorts in each of the three programs of the Kanof Physician Leadership Institute. The Leadership College offers four modules that cover individual effectiveness as a leader, health policy and advocacy and basic financial concepts. This program targets physicians just beginning their leadership careers. Clinical Quality University, a collaboration between NCMSF and the NC Quality Center, provides training for physicians to lead their hospital’s quality improvement teams. It is a four module program focused on patient safety, teamwork and communication among teams, and evidence-based care. Health Care Leadership and Management equips leaders to become effective leaders in the changing context of health care. HCLM’s target audience is the physician who is looking to acquire more in-depth skills in strategic decision making, health care finance and in-depth understanding of organizational culture and influencing culture change.
