AGING PATH: Predictive and Experiential Insights for Supporting Late Career Physicians
The Univ. of Colorado School of Medicine (CU SOM) Office for Well Being advances a healthy, equitable practice environment by measuring workforce well-being, identifying system drivers of distress, and partnering with departments and affiliates to turn data into action. Their portfolio includes institution wide well-being measurement, leadership development, and pragmatic research that informs system level solutions to reduce burnout and strengthen professional fulfillment.
This two-year project seeks to generate a comprehensive national understanding of late-career physician well-being, workload expectations, and transition experiences. Using a mixed-methods approach, they will integrate national trend data, a 2026 survey, and qualitative interviews to identify evidence-based, physician-defined strategies that support senior physicians and promote workforce sustainability, culminating in a co-designed, adoptable prototype.
