Statewide (Texas) Physician Health and Wellness Program
The Texas Medical Association (TMA) is the largest state medical association in the country representing nearly 57,000 medical student, resident, and physician members. The TMA Special Funds Foundation (TMASFF),is a 501(c)(3) created in 1995 to facilitate fulfillment and measurement of TMA’s charitable activities. The challenges physicians currently face are immense. TMA aims to support and better equip them to shape the future of medicine. To achieve that mission, TMA outlined four goals in its 2025 strategic plan: Practice Strength, Healthy Environment, Trusted Leader, and One Voice. Those strategic goals guide the vast benefits and services offered to TMA members.
TMA and/or one of its related organizations (“TMAORO”) seeks to revise and improve TMA’s current physician health and wellness offerings by launching a statewide, comprehensive physician health and wellness (PHW) program available to physicians in Texas. Not all physicians in Texas have access to a wellness program, therefore, TMA is designing a complimentary program to fill in gaps and allow all Texas physicians to gain access to needed wellness services. The organization’s knowledge and experience in creating programs to serve its members and the Texas community is well-documented and TMA regularly receives requests from various associations and physician groups wanting to learn more about its successful programs.
