Physician Leadership on New and Emerging Tobacco Products
The Physician Advisory Network is a leadership development program enabling physicians to lead public health programs. The TCMS created the Network to provide physicians with tools and resources specific to tobacco products. The Network model has three components: 1. A toolkit of materials and resources, 2. In-person training curriculum, 3. Physician-led opportunities. TMSF used the Network model and developed a system to address tobacco products and e-cigarettes. It created a toolkit available for download, developed trainings and webinars that identify the issues of tobacco, and offered tools for physicians to discuss the issue with patients. The proposed project is to replicate this model among other medical societies throughout the country.
