Summit at the Summit: A National Grand Rounds on the State of American Medicine

The Summit at the Summit will draw to a national stage with public and media attention the many physicians and others who are concerned over the exclusion of experienced clinicians in the recent reforms of our health system. All physicians and physician organizations will be invited to participate in the national roundtable discussion. The main topic remains open to refinement by participants, but our discussion with colleagues across the country suggests that the following will resonate: A flawed meaningful use program, due to the failure to consult adequately with clinical end users, has resulted in EHR systems which perform far below their potential, and thus compromise patient safety. The conference will occur at the Keystone Conference Center and Resort in Colorado and will be streamed live online as well.
