Utah Physicians Leadership Development Program
The Utah Medical Association (UMA) Foundation will develop a training program, Utah Physician Leadership Development Program, to prepare Utah physicians for leadership roles in an ever-changing health care industry. The training program will enhance the abilities of current physician leaders and foster new physician leaders in the Utah health care industry. With these well-trained physician leaders, Utah health care will offer better quality outcomes for patients and improve physician buy-in for proposed changes.
The UMA Foundation and the University of Utah David Eccles School of Business experts will collaboratively custom design the Utah Physician Leadership Development Program specific to the needs of Utah physicians. With this collaborative approach, eighty physicians will gain the necessary leadership skills and resources to lead health care systems, practices, organized medicine, and teams of health care providers. Physicians are the most highly educated providers; and with their leadership, the health care system can provide a higher quality of care through their efforts.
