Integrating Food Security into Clinical Care: A Statewide Physician–Community Partnership
The WSMA Foundation for Health Care Improvement envisions a future where physicians are healthy and fulfilled, working as partners with care teams and patients to provide equitable, high-quality care for all Washingtonians.
Washington State Medical Association (WSMA) Foundation and Help Me Grow WA will create a statewide model empowering primary care physicians to identify food insecurity and connect patients to nutritious food/social services. The partnership will develop co-branded resources (QR codes, posters, fact sheets) for 13,500+ WSMA members, recruit 5-10 pilot organizations for integration, and provide education through a 150-attendee 2026 conference and CME webinars/podcasts on screening, food access barriers, and connecting patients to community resources, ultimately bridging medical care with social support.
