Georgia Physicians Leadership Academy

Established in 2007, the Georgia Physician Leadership Academy (GPLA) seeks to provide organized medicine at the local, state, and national levels an ever-growing population of effective leaders by providing physicians the tools, skills, and learning opportunities to holistically fill the role of leader and to in turn mentor aspiring leaders. The GPLA focuses on 7 skills for physicians.

  1. Effective leadership practice and skills
  2. Conflict resolution
  3. Communication
  4. Advocacy
  5. Economics of health care
  6. Physician resilience
  7. Collegial relationships

During the course, each student is required to design and complete a Leadership Project during their class year to benefit their patients, communities, specialty, and/or state societies.
