The Physicians Foundation Elects Gary Price, M.D., As New President

Boston, MA, May 2, 2018 – Today, The Physicians Foundation – a nonprofit organization that seeks to empower physicians to lead in the delivery of high-quality, cost-efficient healthcare – announced Gary Price, M.D., will serve as its new president. Dr. Price succeeds Walker Ray, M.D., who led the Foundation as president for the last three years.

Dr. Price is a Yale-trained plastic surgeon and serves as an attending surgeon at the Yale-New Haven Hospital, where he is also a clinical assistant professor of surgery. Over the past decade, he has chaired multiple Physicians Foundation committees, including the Physician and Patient Perception Task Force and the Strategic Planning Committee.

“Dr. Price has demonstrated his commitment to his peers and community by serving as a valued board member of The Physicians Foundation for many years and supporting efforts to improve healthcare delivery in our country,” says Tim Norbeck, CEO of The Physicians Foundation. “As healthcare remains in flux, the Foundation continues to focus on its goal to provide practicing physicians with essential resources and actionable insights to effectively manage healthcare reform. We know Dr. Price will do an outstanding job in maintaining our momentum.”

Dr. Price is affiliated with numerous local and national medical associations and societies and is a past president of the Connecticut State Medical Society and the Connecticut and New England Societies of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons. He is a graduate of the Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine and the Yale School of Management.

“Under the devoted leadership of Dr. Ray, The Physicians Foundation has made unprecedented progress to improve physician wellness and strengthen physician leadership,” said Gary Price, M.D., newly elected president of the Physicians Foundation. “I am honored to continue to lead this organization in addressing critical issues to improve the future of healthcare delivery in America.”

Since its inception, The Physicians Foundation has provided more than $49 million in grants to nonprofit organizations, universities, hospital systems and medical society foundations. In addition, it has commissioned an array of healthcare policy white papers and research studies, including the Foundation’s landmark Biennial Physician Survey and Biennial Patient Survey, which respectively evaluate the nation’s physician and patient attitudes on the most pressing U.S. healthcare issues.
