Norm S. Ward, MD, FAAFP, MHCDS, is a Board Member of The Physicians Foundation and a longtime physician leader with experience spanning clinical practice, medical society leadership, health system administration and accountable care.

Dr. Ward served as president of the Vermont Medical Society during its 200th anniversary year in 2013 and represented Vermont as a delegate to the American Medical Association for several years. He also chaired the New England Delegation to the AMA and the Council of New England State Medical Societies.

A family physician by training, Dr. Ward completed medical school at the Warren Alpert Medical School at Brown University and his family medicine residency at the University of Rochester. He practiced full-spectrum family medicine, including obstetrics, before moving into physician leadership and health care administration.

Over the course of his career, Dr. Ward held leadership roles including Medical Director of Vermont Managed Care, Medical Director of Case Management at the University of Vermont Medical Center and Chief Medical Officer for OneCare Vermont, a statewide accountable care organization participating in the CMS Vermont All-Payer ACO Model.

Dr. Ward earned a Master of Health Care Delivery Science degree from Dartmouth College in 2015 and retired from clinical and administrative practice in July 2024.
