Ingram Institute for Physician Leadership
The Tennessee Medical Education Fund Inc. (TMEF) would like to continue to offer foundational leadership skills to physicians in our state through a three-point program consisting of our two-track leadership Institute and a continuation of our Presidents’ Retreat. It is our goal to equip the physicians in our state to lead conversations around the future of healthcare at the practice, community, state and federal levels.
The John Ingram Institute for Physician Leadership will provide initially two courses for physician leadership training. The first course is the Leadership Immersion Weekend Retreat which will provide fundamental leadership training condensed into a very accommodating and accessible weekend time frame. This course will address conflict resolution, decision making, communication and media training, collaboration and influence as well as self-assessment and interpersonal skills. A second course, based on the nationally accredited TeamStepp program, focuses on training physicians to lead care teams for improving quality and safety while reducing costs in the clinical setting. The second course, entitled the Physician’s Leadership Lab will be a nine month course resulting in a project that applies the formulas and skills learned to a clinical topic to improve quality, safety and efficiency. The course will be a combination of live sessions and webinars with a clinical quality improvement project.
