Women Physicians: Taking Leadership Roles in the Medical Community
The Medical Educational and Scientific Foundation of New York’s is designed to deal with the reality that, for a variety of reasons, women physicians have become a growing and more important force in the delivery of health care but have not achieved leadership equilibrium with their male colleagues. The reasons are both sociological and financial and also reflect the fact that women physicians tend to select the lower paid specialties.
They propose to follow the proven format of recent MESF leadership seminars. This would involve starting on a Friday afternoon, carrying through with a dinner and roundtable discussion and utilizing all day Saturday for lectures and discussions. Attendance would be limited to women physicians. Lecture emphasis would focus on creditable skills women physicians need to advance their status in the medical workforce.
