Michael Darrouzet

Michael J. Darrouzet has served as the Executive Vice-President/CEO of the Texas Medical Association since September 2019. Prior to joining the TMA staff, he worked for the Dallas County Medical Society for 31 years, serving as the chief executive for 23 years. He is the fourth executive vice president in TMA’s 169-year history. Mr. Darrouzet currently serves on the Board of Directors of two national organizations, the Physicians Foundation, serving as chair of its Leadership Committee, and the Physicians Advocacy Institute, where serves as Vice Chair. Mr. Darrouzet has served on numerous community boards including the North Texas Accountable Healthcare Partnership, the Parkland Foundation, Dallas Medical Resources, Bishop Lynch High School, and the Southwest Transplant Foundation. Mr. Darrouzet is a past president and Fellow of the American Association of Medical Society Executives (AAMSE). In 2004, he received the Dallas County Medical Society’s Millard J. and Robert L. Heath Award, the medical society’s highest recognition for a layperson who has supported the medical community. Mr. Darrouzet earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance from The University of Texas at Austin, and a Master of Science in Health Care Administration from Trinity University in San Antonio. He and his wife, Anne, are the parents of three adult daughters. In his spare time, he is a luthier and builds custom acoustic guitars. TMA is the largest state medical society in the nation, representing over 57,000 physician and medical student members. It is located in Austin and has 110 component county medical societies around the state. TMA’s key objective since 1853 is to improve the health of all Texans.
