The Baylor Research Institute aimed to improve patient safety by developing, evaluating and improving the effectiveness of an intervention program in ambulatory primary care practices. The Physicians Foundation supported the Baylor Research Institute in implementing its program in the practices of numerous physicians from Baylor's physician practice organization, HealthTexas.

The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) Safer Health Care for Kids program is an initiative to heighten pediatricians’ awareness of pediatric safety issues and provide information and strategies to ensure a safe healthcare environment for infants, children, adolescents and young adults. Funding from The Physicians Foundation enabled the AAP to create a comprehensive, user-friendly website that provides tools and educational resources for physicians, health professionals, administrators, families and caregivers.

The California Academy of Family Physicians Foundation (CAFPF) undertook a project to improve care of diabetes patients in California and demonstrate practice improvements that would enhance patient care, educate patients and their families and assist disadvantage populations. Funding from The Physicians Foundation supported CAFPF in recruiting practice teams to participate in a virtual collaborative learning experience that blended online learning with face-to-face educational experiences; additional teams of primary care physicians were recruited for participation in collaboratives in underserved counties, utilizing only face-to-face educational experiences.

The Practice Enhancement Program is a quality improvement initiative developed to enhance patient access care by providing family physicians with education and hands-on assistance. It was created in response to research conducted by the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) indicating the need and interest of family physicians to improve patient care.
