Physician Executive Development Training
The purpose of the grant is to provide physicians knowledge about leadership skills, the importance of physicians to take on leadership roles in the development and management of models of healthcare delivery, and an overview of business practices. The Michigan State Medical Society (MSMS) Leadership Development Program is based on key features identified by the American College of Physician Executives. The program offers two day-long sessions that feature Michigan leaders, four hour-long skill-building webinars, and Continuing Medical Education credits. It is designed to introduce new leaders to core competencies while offering current leaders insight into how competencies can be applied to effective leadership. The program will include the following topics: economic trends affecting healthcare, multidisciplinary teams and organizational success, strategic planning, financial issues, process redesign and performance improvement, healthcare law, meeting management and presentation skills, understanding financial tools, and supporting physician leaders.
