MSMA Physician Leadership Series
The MSMA Foundation will continue to grow the Physician Leadership Academy as initially developed as this program has proven to be extremely successful with interest from physicians across the state. This program will continue as originally developed but using local consultants and instructors. The second part of the project is to develop a spin-off of shorter, more concentrated lessons from the initial leadership academy for resident physicians. Under the “spin-off,” the grantee will combine a meal and one to two hours of key lessons directed at orienting the audience on the how to be a successful leader and the importance of developing those skills. Lessons will be developed that are effective at engaging this group of physician leaders to understand the need for collaborative leadership in today’s health care world.
MSMA Foundation plans to offer leadership courses at various educational events throughout the year such as our annual Young Physicians Section CME event. These sessions would be CME accredited and open to members.
The project also includes the development of one-hour presentations for use at the local component and specialty medical societies across the state. Each session will be CME accredited and the sessions provided at no cost to member physicians. These sessions focus on effective team-building and leadership techniques while concentrating on four major areas: Leadership, Leadership Qualities, Leadership Challenges, and Becoming a Great Leader.
