Labor Link: Improving the Labor & Delivery Environment through AI Assessment, Access, and Automation

“Northwestern Memorial HealthCare (NMHC) (Northwestern Memorial Foundation serves as NMHC’s philanthropic arm) is a premier, integrated academic health system. They exist to make people better by making medicine better. The health system aspires to be a destination for world-class care and talent, globally recognized for the advancement of health care from discovery to delivery. The system provides quality health care at more than 200 locations across the Chicago metro area with 11 hospitals, two medical groups, more than 5,600 aligned physicians and more than 33,000 employees. Northwestern Memorial Hospital, the system’s academic medical center in Chicago, is tied for the No. 1 overall hospital ranking in Illinois and is the only Illinois hospital on the nation’s Best Hospitals Honor Roll for 12 consecutive years, according to U.S. News & World Report, 2023-2024.

The Mansueto Innovation Institute, led by our physician Chief Innovation Officer, is finding, evaluating and activating internal and external innovative solutions for challenges affecting NMHC’s patients and care teams today. The Institute has a portfolio of innovations such as using AI to scan mammograms to prioritize patients for follow-ups, chatbots for patient access, and using natural language processing to identify patients for clinical trials. Labor Link is a current priority for the Mansueto Innovation Institute.”
