The Telehealth Initiative Cohort 2 Proposal

The mission of the Academy of Medicine Education Foundation (AMEF) is to enhance health care through education of the medical profession and the community at large. AMEF enhances the philosophy of the Academy of Medicine of Cleveland & Northern Ohio (AMCNO) in its focus on health-oriented education for physicians, their staff and patients. AMEF is the charitable component of the AMCNO. The AMEF’s laser-sharp focus on education lends itself well to The Telehealth Initiative (TTI), launched by the Physicians Foundation in collaboration with the American Medical Association and three state medical associations.

AMEF’s collaboration with the AMCNO grants direct access to its membership database of 5,000 local physicians, residents and medical students. The program will consist of meeting with these physicians (by phone, email, in person) to gauge their readiness to add telehealth services or expand their current offerings. CliniSync, a health information exchange for the sharing of electronic health records (EHRs) in Ohio, will be encouraged to collect the necessary data, as statewide physician interest has grown throughout the years. This would allow physicians to provide telehealth services more efficiently and with less red tape and would in turn make healthcare more accessible.
