Initiative to accelerate the adoption of electronic health records
Bloomington Hospital Foundation carried out an educational and support program to address the needs and risks of physicians adopting electronic health records in the Bloomington community. The program aimed to lead broad adoption of cost-effective electronic systems that improve patient safety, quality of care and communication among providers. Funding from The Physicians Foundation supported a series of local workshops and lectures, physician attendance at regional workshops and assistance for physician practices in implementing electronic health records. The program succeeded in increasing and supporting adoption of health information technology by physicians in targeted areas in and around Bloomington.
