Physician Wellness Program Development Initiative
The Travis County Medical Society Foundation will collaborate with other medical societies to develop a manual on how to create a Physician Wellness Program (PWP). In addition to a toolkit, the manual will include research and background supporting the need for such a program. Medical Societies will be invited to attend educational sessions that will include speakers familiar with physician stress and burnout, as well as program management expertise.
This collaboration will provide a Physician Wellness Program toolkit for medical societies and associations that want to start a physician wellness program. It will also launch a series of in-person and online educational sessions that will include physicians speaking on the importance of physician wellness. By creating a toolkit, successful programs will be more easily and quickly replicated across the nation, creating a strong safety-net for our overwhelmed physicians.
Although the counseling aspect of this program is the cornerstone, it is also our intent to include other aspects of physician wellness resources such as professional coaching, educational topics, resource centers, ways to address health system barriers and advocate for employer change, etc.
